Optimizing the UI with Application Shortcuts
Author: Ian Darwin
You want the user to be able to jump directly to activities within your application
Provide Application Shortcuts
Application Shortcuts were added in API 25, Android Nougat 7.1, to allow the user to select a given activity without having to go through your main activity and press a button or menu item. They appear when the user long-presses on your application icon, and the user can click on them to launch the activity. The user can also long-press on the shortcut, to create an App Icon that leads directly to that activity.
